Beauty Hauling

I’m half tempted to plan a trip to Paris under the guise of a ‘getaway’, with the sole purpose to pay homage to every French Beauty Brand ever mentioned. However I’m pretty sure the family’s clicked on to my makeup-madness ways and would be able to see the word ‘Bioderma’ written all over my face. So I’ll have to make do with what’s on my doorstep beauty-wise and my favourite for a Parisian style perusal brimming with skincare, niche finds and few miscellaneous treasures is New Beauty Centre on S.V. Road, Khar. It’s got that secretive hush-hush feel about it, the staff are up to their eyeballs with knowledge and I’ve never seen shelves ache so much under the full range of Bourjois (yep even that bloody Healthy Mix Foundation), need I say anymore? Here’s what I picked up on my most recent jaunt…

I will admit that I toyed with the idea of Bourjois’ much coveted Healthy Mix Foundation in my basket, but being that I suffer with isolated breakouts, I plumped for Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse in Sandy Beige, a thick and lovely foundation that was very easy to apply on skin. Although it has a thick consistency, it felt amazingly light on my face, provided a nice coverage, did not feel cakey at all and had a very natural matte finish. My skin is oily and I think it really helped with the oil and shine control though I am not sure if this foundation would be suitable for people with dry skin. Spot two in the list was filled by the Colorbar Zoom & Whoosh Mascara, a blogger-led purchase. Gawd I love a good mascara. I’ve only applied it on once since its arrival but it seems like a good for everyone – I’ll keep you updated. The best of bunch is most definitely the most sexy of the pack. It’s a stain. I’m not sure I’d ever have such strong feelings towards a lip stain, but I do believe that the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Barcelona Nights is quite frankly, magical. It’s a thicker product that does veer off into the realms of hybrid because it’s not quite a gloss nor is it a lipstick but more like a liquid like balm of sorts. The miscellaneous treasure is well and truly found.

Pencil it in. New Beauty Centre, S.V. Road, your next lunch break. But just remember it’s our little secret. And P.S) They also have a website for any non-Mumbai folk. Shhhhhh.
