Bring it on BB…

BB creams – the face product phenomenon that just won’t seem to go away. Conceals and covers, protects and perfects, these nourishing skincare-rich potions claim to do it all and lets face it – BB creams are old news now. Hell, now it’s CC creams that are close to hitting our shores. After brushing off the hype for so long I’ve caved over the last few months and given some a road-test and the above line-up contains a star, a thumbs up and 2 duds. Read on for my BB edit…

Let’s get the not so fabulous out of the way first. Both 2 fall into the ‘too oily’ category I’m afraid with the Pond’s White Beauty BB Cream topping the chart and the Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick coming a close second and getting extra points deducted for being rather difficult to blend. It’s worth noting that I am a bit of a greasy gal so those of you lot with drier complexions may be able to get along with them better. The one that gets a satisfied thumbs up, I’ve already spoken about before – the L’Oreal True Match BB (full review here). Available in a decent shade range, it does everything it says on the tin and gives a nice amount of coverage without feeling too sheeny on the skin, but still giving a fresh and healthy finish. Think of a product between a BB cream and a tinted moisturiser and this is what you end up with.

The stand out BB is one I picked up on my travels – any old excuse to stock up on beauty bits, eh? I’d heard a lot of good things about the Revlon Photoready BBs when they released – there are 3 different shades in total, which when pondering the Lifestyle shelves aren’t all that easy to decipher but I went for the Light shade as it felt the closest on the back of my hand. It looks slightly grey toned when first applied, but once buffed in it adapts and fits in with my skin tone and leaves a glossy, not greasy, yet natural look to the skin which lasts all day.The Revlon Photoready BB Cream can be grabbed at Lifestyle, or online for Rs.610 for 30 ml. Which BB do you love?
