Since starting ‘The Beauty Bag’ feature I’ve covered months worth of beauty-based ground from lovely lippies to complexion perker-uppers and pretty much everything in between, so this time round I’ve decided to do something a little different and instead have tried, tested and tossed out the bad and left in the good of my August favourites. Forget the rest, here’s what’s worth a swatch, pump or flick through when you spot ’em:

It’s August. It’s humid. We’re melting. And I have to say that this month’s beauty bag was a bit of a head scratcher – makeup has taken a real back seat for me recently and the less is more approach (or just nothing) is my current mantra. However there are a few products that I’ll be adding into my cosmetics cycle for the final bout of rain, and they all concern a melt-free base. One that stays put even on the wettest climate of all.

“It’s getting hot in here, so get some colour on” – I’m sure that’s how that Nelly song went right? I kid, I kid. I still know all the words to that tune (yes, tune), 15 years post its release – yep even all the rappy bits too. But in the spirit of April’s Beauty Bag lets just go with the revised hook cause in India we’re starting to experience summer and having exhausted all bronzey, highlighted, glowy options in my makeup arsenal I’m vowing to add a splash of shading from the other end of the spectrum this month; pinks, oranges, blues, greens. You might want to be sitting down for this one…

This is the beauty bag that I’ve wanted to put together since the first month of this feature. A bronzed, glowing, beach babe edit to get you beauty beefed up for the impending heat – if it ever decides to play nice. But just in case it does, or if you’re heading off to sunnier shores over the next few weeks – me? jealous? never – then here’s some red hot weather ready products that I’ll be adding into my makeup mix for the month of October…

With the sun finally deciding to make an appearance, I’m ridding my beauty bag of all nonseasonal choices and dusting off my sunshine accompanied sheeny skin saviours. I’ve got complexion, cheeks, eyes and nails covered with just four glow-giving options being courted into September’s Beauty Bag…

I toyed with a few thematic choices for this month’s beauty bag, but instead I decided to plump for the most cliched of them all – a regime monsoon clean. Most probably because I need to complete the ritual myself and take a dose of my own medicine, but also because I love a good clear out and clean up of the stash. Prepare to rinse out your skin, swap in a tinted moisturiser and tweak your current daily makeup rotation all in just 3 not too pricey products. It’s Wednesday & the first of the month; could there be a better day to put down the tub of chocolate ice cream (guilty) and get your beauty bag in order for the upcoming month in order? I think not…

I was scratching my head over this month’s ‘Beauty Bag’. So far we’ve had sparkles, sheers and an impressive amount of lip lacquer, but my recent downsizing attitude towards my product stash and love for alliteration landed me at the theme of ‘Multitasking May’. Beauty bits that serve a multitude of functions – I’m all over that. Time and space savers, I’m no stranger to a dab of blush on the lips or lash product through the brows. Heck this is coming from the girl who used to cake concealer on her lips back in the day. Massive error, I promise to never, ever repeat that process. It’s time to get a little creative and welcome the multi functional May makeup additions.
