Category: Budget Buy

The budget VS. high-end debate is always going to be one that always rages on. Now I love what the Indian market has to offer, I’ve got the small fortune amassed on my Lifestyle InnerCircle Card to prove it but my yearning for something a little luxe usually wins and there are many treats I forgo in life to fund that. Boo. However there are a few non wallet-whopping tried and tested products that crop up in my rotation; some newer additions and others that have been hanging around for ages. All under Rs.500 and get a G&M thumbs up. Welcome to a very beefy edit of ‘The Budget Buy’…

If there’s one thing I’m guilty of in the evenings, it’s not being able to switch off (and deciding that I wish to eat cake at 11pm at night). The Keep app on my cell is crammed with muddled midnight typings that I sleepily add in the desperate hope to get all things bloggy off my mind. It makes for some entertaining reading. Sometimes I just need to relax. And to get into that state I have a bevy of good smelling stuff to get me in the mood. Enter, Soulflower’s Energy Boost*; a blend more formulated for a daytime hit of perkiness, but I use it all-day, everyday whenever I have a ‘pull yourself together woman’ moment. They happen. Often. A mix of Rosemary, Grapefruit, Lemon and Peppermint among others paired with some subtle mind games make me feel that wee bit more chilled whenever I roll it on. Temples, wrists and my pillow seem to be my favourite scent spots but it’s taken up permanent residency in the depths of my bag and gets hauled out whenever I need a roll.

High-shine, glass-like nails seem to be the nail nod right now. The shinier the better is the mantra. Repeating this saying in my head while perusing Lifestyle, I stumbled across the Revlon counter that was crammed with their Parfumerie Nail Enamels. Eyes lit up, I bundled two in the basket and have been admiring my nails, so reflective I can almost see my face in them, since. Here’s a bit of backstory; every gal who I’ve quizzed on their lacquer choice recently has credited the Revlon Parfumerie Polishes and sung their praises. So here’s my report.

I for one love a body-part specific, nourishment injecting, rich cream to slather on as a finishing touch before bed. It’s on those luxe little steps that elevates you from just slapping on some moisturiser to a pampering goddess and I tell you if I had a penny for every time I’ve caught Dad massaging in this hand cream while he thought I wasn’t looking I’d have very heavy pockets indeed – a pampering goddess in the making, who knew? The Body Shop Honeymania Hand Cream and L’Occitane Shea Butter Foot Cream have been treating my hands and feet exclusively for the past few months and given their purse friendly credentials and permanent status in my stash it was about time they popped up in a ‘Budget Buy’…

This may just about be the most plain and utterly simple post that will ever grace the pages here at G&M. ‘An ode to cotton buds? Has she gone mad?’, you may exclaim, but stick with me here as those little lengths of cotton clean-up, blendable bud goodness may just be about one of the handiest beauty tools out there and bloody cheap they are too. They’re one of those bathroom cabinet essentials that we take for granted until you’re getting ready at a friend’s and nonchalantly ask for one and their response is that they haven’t got any – my face looks a little like this. I have been mulling over their beauty functions for a few days and here is my final list of what I like to dig into my bowl of buds for…

Bblunt is a truly brilliant hair care brand and so I was very pleased to see that they had launched a dry shampoo. Here’s the low down on the new Bblunt Back to Life Dry Shampoo. If you’re looking for something a little different from all the dry shampoo out there, then you need to check this out. It is really easy to use. You simply hold it in an upright position, open the cap and then gently squeeze the bottle to puff out the product.
