I thought it was time for another desk side beauty check-in. It has been a while since my last installment and now I’ve got a more permanent set-up and a desk (!?!! – exciting stuff, though it’s squashed in next to the kitchen bin which makes for an interesting aroma throughout the day), there’s a MUJI box brimming with some of my most utilised beauty bits…

During the warmer months I like to keep things quite bronzed and glowy on the cheeks. Yes I buy into that golden goddess thing every damn year. But when the cooler months roll around I settle into a more pinched cheek affair; embracing my rouged apples and even adding a little pink blush to make them last even more. The upcoming months are just a handful of which when my ruddy flush is encouraged. So here’s my rosy cheek edit: all kinds of textures, all kinds of tones – it’s time to ramp up the rose…

For the past week I’ve been battling through an attack of the stuffy sniffles. One minute I’m struggling to breathe through my nasal passages, the next I’m fighting to find my pack of tissues at the bottom of my bag as there’s been a nose explosion that’s making its way down my chin. That latter scenario happened in public. In front of a wave of pointing and staring school children. Nice. My mucus levels may not be able to make up their mind but two things have stayed constant – an incessant red nose and a Post Malone-esque tone. But you know me and of course there have been some beauty bits that have come to the forefront to cover my ruddy nozzle, make things a little more breathable and polish me off for public consumption. Enter the ‘I’ve Got a Cold Edit’…

I don’t know what came over me last month, but it wasn’t until I was working on my September Favourites video that I realised I’d purchased three blushes. Averaging at 1 blush buys every 10 days – that is definitely a personal record. With the Sivanna Colours Blush being a non-negotiable in my routine for as long as I can remember I think it was about time my cheek arsenal got some fresh meat. So here’s a rundown of the three blushes in question (including that Essence offering):

One of the more frequent questions I am posed, aside from who is my favourite in Veep (FYI, I can’t pick one – can I just say Selina and Amy?) is for advice when it comes to compact foundations. Compact Foundation A VS. compact foundation B? What one for oily skinned gals? Best all-rounder? Is the Innisfree Cushion Foundation worth it? So I thought I’d break it down into my 2 favourites; the pros, cons and who’s gonna love it.

Beauty tools surround me in practically every room of my postage-stamp sized flat. A quick tour and you’ll find brushes in my wardrobe, an array of metal utensils in my bathroom and a pair of nail scissors in my kitchen ‘let’s put paperwork in here in forget about it drawer’ – everyone has one of those, right? But it got me thinking – what do I actually need. Could I narrow it down to a handful perhaps? After an afternoon of chin scratching I think I got there. Of course there’d still be a few implements that would weasel their way in, but for the purpose of this post I present you to 8 tools you NEED sprinkled with a few recommendations along the way…

There’s no official word no matter how deep I dig around on the Internet, but its absence from the shelves and lack of an empty spot reserved for it on counter has lead me to the devastating realisation that L’Oreal False Lash Mascara has in fact (I think) been discontinued. Hold me. First one of the most perfect foundations in the world disappears and now this, I’m in makeup distress people. But my feels have been dampened slightly by the fact that I’ve stumbled across some pretty good substitutes for my long-lost mascara love. Two that I’ve finally begun to get on with. OK so none of them as beautifully crimping, volumising, lengthening, just the right amount of clumping credentials as the False Lash, but good enough. To the False Lash lovers I extend a tissue for your tears and two alternatives:
