I’ve mentioned before that the ‘Keep’ app on my phone makes for some entertaining reading: the late night scribbles and ideas that crop up as a product of my makeup-heavy reading list. ‘The Non-Ritual’ was a phrase coined by Allure when describing Mila Kunis’ low-key at home regime and it got me thinking – if there’s one common denominator between Mila and I, and I’m clutching at straws here, then that’s it. I like to doll myself up, even experiment with the war paint on the odd occasion, but most days I’ll happily plod along with a basic beauty routine. Hell, at the moment for a good three days of the week I don’t even wear the stuff, call myself a beauty blogger, eh? But makeup days still outnumber the barefaced ones and for when I’m against the clock or quite frankly ass-ed, out comes the non-ritual routine…

A neutral array

A neutral makeup look from me, non? What a wonderful surprise. I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Yesterday was a day I’d been looking forward to for a long while; an afternoon of cocktails followed by evening filled with The Revenant. The event called for my usual makeup look with an extra bit of “somethin’, somethin’” and when occasions like this roll in there’s one trusty routine that I know will do the job…

An ode to eyeshadow 2

An ode to eyeshadow products

A strange this is happening. When I’m sitting at my vanity each morning deciding what makeup to sport for the day (decisions, decisions), I have found myself reaching out for an eyeshadow and throwing one on as part of my routine. Regular readers of my blog will no doubt gasp out loud at this news as eyeshadow has always been pretty low down on my list of makeup priorities, but with the colder weather setting in and any hint of warmth in my skin fading fast I’m embracing a slightly more ‘done-up’ eye than I usually do. Here’s what products I’ve had on rotation for the last week…

I’m currently writing this post stuffed into a seat on a car along with all my luggage – scarfs, muddy shoes and woolly clothing galore packed in – on my way back home after a quick jaunt to the countryside. I walked & swam (in the Ganga – yes I’m a nutter) my way round Nashik but now it’s time for me to retire my dirty boots and spend my evening scrubbing myself back into an appeasing state. Of course with any trip, no matter how low-key it may be one of my favourite activities is packing my makeup, so here’s what I hauled along with me.

But its all about the nails

You know when you feel like you’re wearing a colour so dark on your talons that you could probably go out wearing a paper bag and nobody would notice? No? Just me? Well that’s how I feel today. For two days ago I gave myself a mani with Lakme’s Amethyst and I bloody love it. Super summery, eye-catching and so brilliantly dark I don’t think I’ve stopped looking at ’em since I painted them! Two coats, a top coat and you’re laughing.

4 products

This week hasn’t left too much time to experiment with makeup – although I have been keeping my eye on beauty trends – I know what I’ll be rocking next week. So my morning routine most days has consisted of a rather measly 4 products which I can very easily throw on in less than 4 minutes. The epitome of lazy girl chic.

I’m still on a bit of a minimal makeup mission at the moment. I think it’s a combination of the warm weather and me craving more time in bed in the mornings – we’ve all been there, eh! But I’ve found a nice little beauty product combo that has been getting me through the last week featuring some new products and maybe even a few surprises…
