I’m afraid it’s yet another minimal product FOTD! What am I like? I blame this on my mascara – I absolutely love it, it makes me look ‘done’ without a spot of makeup on so I really don’t feel the need to slap too much on. In fact I’ve only been applying bb cream where I need some extra coverage on the centre of my face, which is unheard of for me.

I ditched powder a few months ago now. It made my base look heavy, too matte and it gave me an all round cake-face – yack! My skin is still oily so I do get an oily area here and there by now I just mop it up with some blotting tissues and then dab some Almay Line Smoothing concealer on the area if needed to matte it down slightly. This week I’ve gone back to basics with my makeup, no eyeshadow here today, so let me tell you what I’ve had slapped on my face recently.

You might have noticed that this week I’ve tried a few new features on the blog. ‘The Weekend Post’ will be up every Sunday with my lazy-day beauty goings-on and Monday will now be the day that I inject a hit of style into this blog. Quite a few of you asked to see more content on events that I am lucky enough to be invited to, so I’ve vowed to lug my camera along in the evenings and bring you the latest pics and goss. One final thing is a weekly dose of ‘My Makeup’. I’m a creature of habit when it comes to what I put on my face, so ‘FOTDS’ are all a bit too regular for me, so I’ll be trying to shake my makeup routine up weekly and sharing the outcome every Wednesday. Phew, housekeeping out of the way – now on to the good stuff!

only mascara

It’s very easy to ramble on about new products that we’ve tried, tested and loved. But what about those old fav’s that we rely on everyday – they deserve a mention too! It dawned on me the other day that I have never done a full-blown post dedicated to what is probably the only constant in my makeup bag. I have repurchased it around 4 times now and dutifully apply it every morning. I’ve briefly spoken about it many a time, but after having a good lash day today, it was time to take a snap and enter full-on raving mode….

It seems quite ironic that I am writing this post from my sick bed, in a pajama with a cold, because I’m telling you now I do not look like the above picture today! I currently resemble a paler, drier, flakier, snottier version of myself. Lovely. However a few days ago I decided to rock out a new lip purchase of mine and embraced a bright lip! It’s not very often that I do this, so I thought it was definitely blog worthy.

Things on the blog have been a little quiet as I have just got back from a weekend away visiting my relatives outside Mumbai. I do this around once a month so have become a bit of a pro at packing and even have a pre-made washbag that stays in my travel suitcase so I never forget any of the ‘essentials’. That means that I never tend to overpack toiletries, however with makeup it’s a different story. Eyeshadows (even though I only wear it once in a blue moon), a plethora of blushes, false lashes and 5 different lipsticks always tend to be lugged along in my blugging makeup bag, so this time I really tried to cut down and I have to say I think I did a pretty good job.

NYX Powder Blush in Angel, Almay Pink Blush, Revlon Neutral Blush

If you are a regular reader of this blog you will know that I have a love-hate relationship with blusher. Sometimes I can’t get enough of it, other times I can go a few weeks without even touching the stuff (dramatic I know). After seeing a few unflattering photos of myself sans blusher pop up on the ol’ Facebook I have released that a touch of blusher to the cheeks actually helps to bring some dimension and a bit of colour to my face – especially in flash photography. These unflattering photos have also taught me never to wear MAC Woodwinked eyeshadow without putting some dark liner on my lashlines (hello pinkeye!) – but that is a story for another time. Back to the point, blushers, yes of course I go for the neutral variety – peachy pinks being my favourites and here are my 3 top picks…
