G&M meet Isha, my friend. Isha meet G&M. I thought it was about time for some fresh meat round these parts, plus I was getting nosey to have a twitch into others makeup bags, so I thought why not get Isha into making an appearance. She thought she was being roped into a quick chat but soon got hauled into a half an hour-long conversation on all things beauty with me scribbing down her musings and snapping away on my camera. The things we do for friends, eh? My friend falls into the ‘normal’ category when it comes to makeup obsession levels, she’s not deemed a special case like myself. Her beauty arsenal fits comfortably into one drawer, her daily picks are housed in a reasonably sized bag and she has important things in life like food and clothes whereas I have a brimming lipstick tower. So here’s her beauty take including her lipstick collecting tendencies & tips for fellow dry skinned gals…

I loved Science at school. The mixing of elements, the dissections, the melting of pen lids in the Bunsen burners – I kid, I kid, let’s stick to the whole ‘mixing of elements’ thing for the purpose of this post. Sometimes getting your mix on can bring out the best of two products; toning down a bold lip to an everyday tolerance level. Case. In. Point…

I wholeheartedly admit that my late-night reading sessions of Vogue and Marie Claire have resulted in a somewhat unhealthy obsession with a quest for lazy locks. They love to bleat on about their barnets and I bloody lap it up. The duo are locked in a pursuit for a short and messy chop with an air of French girl cool and I’m tagging at the back desperate to join in, wielding scissors in one hand and styling spray in the other. After my most recent restyle I’ve been left with a long-ish length that I still find difficult to mould into anything that resembles some kind of shape. So I’m thinking shorter, choppier with that tousled ‘I haven’t touched it, I swear‘ look. The hairdresser’s appointment is booked, so in the meantime I’m gathering the tools for my ‘cheveux parisien’ – thanks Google Translate…

I’ve already rambled on this week about my ‘ol friend A and our deep conversations about long-lasting lipstick (post here for reference). But the whole reason we were on our burger-filled lady date was because we’d been left by the wayside after vamping up our other bestie for a date night of her own. The three of us clubbed together, scrambling around, pulling out the creme de la creme of our makeup bags and making our mate looking pretty darn sexy if I say so myself. But there was 1 (well 2, but I’ll get onto that later) products that really stood out to these folk with normal makeup obsession levels – let’s call these ‘The Gamechangers’ – and if my friends haven’t purchased these by the end of the week then I’ll eat a banana (bananas = yuck)…

I’m up nice and early for a special shoot today, makes a change from the office – woo (will spill the deets when I can, and no doubt be posting some sneak peeks on my Instagram ‘GlossAndMagic’), so need to look presentable. That means hair washed and brushed *groan*, a nice fresh base for makeup and a non-chipped mani – all things that have usually slipped by the wayside by a usual Saturday morning. So last night I entered SOS mode and a post on that routine will be up this weekend, but today I thought I’d share my morning regime to get me looking at least half decent to be thrusted in front of a camera or any other day for that matter…

Girls and guys. Gathered here before you today, I do solemnly vow to wear more lipstick… Right, now that’s been said we can all rock off home. I’m kidding, I’m kidding. But in all seriousness my lipstick collection has been sitting a little uninvolved recently. Anyone remember the days of my hedonistic MAC lipstick stash? You deserve a medal if you do. That time has most certainly passed, but I now sit on an array of pretty shades from a load of lovely brands that get snubbed on a daily basis for, let’s face it, more often than not, the L’Oreal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss (swoons), or any easy to throw on lip products of the sort – I’m looking at you Maybelline Baby Lips. Recently I purchased a bold lip colour (post on its way), that I even wore out the house – shocking, I know – and I loved it. It reignited my ol’ love and got me thinking, start using your lip lacquers again woman! I’m also itching to purchase a Maybelline Color Show Lipstick and if I start reaching for my lipsticks more, I think I can manage to justify just the one. Bribing myself with lipsticks for more lipsticks? Maths at it’s finest.

I can be a little floozy with my skincare from time to time. I own too many serums to count on one hand, foot care galore and don’t even get me started on masks. But there are a few products that I’ve gone back to time and time again and I think it’s fair to say they are pretty much permanent features in my routine. Say hello to the skincare repurchases…
