Since I nabbed the new Colorbar MesmerEyes Kajal around a month ago it’s barely left my eyes. Of course there’s the odd competing formula that gets an application, but for the month of November the MesmerEyes Kajal has reigned supreme as my eye kajal of choice. The question on everyone’s lips has been ‘Why?’ so I thought I’d get down to the nitty gritty and give you lot the low-down on the good, the bad…and for once there’s no ugly.
MesmerEyes Kajal boasts promises of ‘unique and patented ingredients to give you maximum care and the best of experiences’ on the pack – a bit of a bizarre claim. I would peg it as a straight-up super pigmented formula. It applies so beautifully & blends effortlessly. You can create a smokey eye in a swipe and a smudge. It’s very black which is just what we want! The texture is super creamy and soft, and if you like to line your waterline then this is perfect because it literally glides on in one stroke. It is really easy to work it into the lash line to densify the appearance of your lashes and if you want to go full on smoky, you can draw this over the upper and lower lids and then blend it all out with a brush.
The good part? I managed to purchase it at a mere Rs.269 while on offer at Nykaa, though its full price is not too wallet weeping at Rs.299. The bad? The claim. It’s rubbish. It’s very easy to smudge this kajal and it isn’t as budge-free as the brand claims it to be. Which makes me wonder why it’s priced slightly higher compared to other brands.
The question is this or Faces MagnetEyes Kajal? I’ve given various kajals a go over the years – the Lakme Eyeconic, the Absolute Kohl, the Colorbar Just Smoky (my favourite of the bunch), but I have to say that the MesmerEyes Kajal comes out on top. I sometimes find some kajal formulas to be a little bit oily, whereas this imparts just the right amount of softness with just the right level of creaminess. The staying time is around the same, but finish wise if you want something that waterproof and smudge proof then go for Faces MagnetEyes Kajal or for something that glides effortlessly with high intensity then MesmerEyes Kajal is your guy. Colorbar bring it with the eyes, again.
