En Route Beauty

When it comes to trains, I’m well travelled. My commuting days stand me in good stead and I can recite the timetable home from work, along with never needing to peek at a map. It’s all up here. But one thing I never really mastered on my daily journeys was gauging the right levels of beauty stuff to bring along; too much and I began to resemble a cosmetics camel, too little and I sat there (if I was lucky enough to get a seat) looking a little sad and dull like the chips that hawkers sell. But after some contemplation and a revision last weekend to test my theory I think I’ve got the balance just right, so here’s my en route edit for beauty movers and shakers:

Soulflower Energy Boost*: I’ve ode-d my love to this before, but a roller of the stuff just makes you recline back and have an ‘aaaaah’ moment which is often needed in cattle-like carriage filled times. With Rosemary, Grapefuit, Lemon and Peppermint Essential Oils I’m feeling chilled just typing about it, also great to smear your scarf with too.

Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate: I ventured out the other day with the mission of locating a jet black kohl and came home with this. The one thing that makes the Kohl Ultimate stand out is the pigmentation. It is fantastic!

Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Reflection Serum: I bloody love this serum, so much so that my face has slurped its way through a whole bottle and is onto its second, which is unheard of for such a product category in my stash. Cool, non-greasy and an absolute dream to apply. Rub over face when you score a seat for silky smooth skin by the time you reach your destination.

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in Berry Crush: I throw in this travel-friendly lip addition from Maybelline for some fuss-free lip love. I slick it on straight from the nub, sparingly mind you as it can get a little creamy and heavy.

Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick in Au Natural: Yes it’s heavenly, yes it lives up to the hype and I shall bask in glory each time I click open this little touch-up stick for the whole carriage to see. A little swipe before you alight at the other end and you’ll be looking even damn better than when you got on. One part magic, one part Colorbar and you’re onto a winner.

Beauty booty sorted with a quick spritz, slick, roller and rub; other suggestions for some en route entertainment? The latest copy of Cosmopolitan of course, paired with Nickelback’s All the Right Reasons on repeat. How 2002 of me.
