It seems quite ironic that I am writing this post from my sick bed, in a pajama with a cold, because I’m telling you now I do not look like the above picture today! I currently resemble a paler, drier, flakier, snottier version of myself. Lovely. However a few days ago I decided to rock out a new lip purchase of mine and embraced a bright lip! It’s not very often that I do this, so I thought it was definitely blog worthy.
I kept the base of my makeup pretty standard – Revlon Photo Ready BB Cream Skin Perfector in Light/Medium, Almay Concealer in Light/Medium, you know the drill by now. I did pop some Almay Wakeup Blush in Pink over my cheeks (this was my first ever blush purchase actually!), which gives a nice sunkissed and subtly pink sheen. I ran a bit of MAC Espresso eyeshadow through my brows and then curled my lashes with my eyelash curlers before giving them a coat of the Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara and use the MAC Pro Longwear Pencil in Black Ice on my waterline.
Now for the lips I used a new addition to my collection that I picked up from Max Factor last weekend, it’s the Color Elixir Giant Pen Stick in Designer Blossom. I have to admit I ended up grabbing it on a whim and it looked gorgeous! Max Factor describe it as a ‘bold, larger-than-life colour’ and I don’t think they could be more right; it’s a quite a neutral based red, so I don’t find it too cool for my skintone and I can see me getting loads of wear out of this in the summer months. When it comes to stick lip colour people are always going to compare these to the NYX Jumbo lip pencils and I have to say the Max Factor Pen Sticks win hands down. They go on much less streaky and are also less drying on the lips. They are priced a little higher, at Rs.675 and more difficult to find (they are stocked on eBay India), but if you can be bothered to root around I highly recommend them!
