So matte lipsticks seem to be having a moment in the beauty world right now, if you can’t already tell from my lipstick-packed Instagram. First the Maybelline New York Color Sensational Velvet Matte Lipstick I oded to last week and now this offering from Lakme, let’s just say my lips are going to be well lacquered-up for the next few months. So in the second installment of lipstick porn this week I bring you the Lakme BM11 Lipstick; a permanent range, 25 shades: which are quite honestly drool-worthy. Hubba hubba. Being a bit lacking in the Lakme lipstick department, coupled with the fact that I’m a sucker for anything billed ‘budget-friendly’ So let’s run through the review:
This is a matte lipstick with a soft velvety finish. BM11 is so pretty. A lovely, easy to wear brown. It is the perfect neutral for medium complexions like mine. I find it super flattering. The formula is really good. It has a lovely smoothing effect on my lips and delivers full and even coverage in one swipe. It is matte but does have a soft sheen and slip that makes it extremely comfortable to wear. It has a gorgeous velvety texture. I love this wood brown shade. It’s a great easy to wear shade.
In terms of long lasting colour, it’s pretty good but I wouldn’t call it super long wear. You probably need a little top up every 3 or 4 hours or so, especially if you have been eating and drinking. It’s a gorgeously creamy non drying formula that is seriously pigmented. This lipstick glides on so easily and has a very smoothing effect on the lips. It feels so comfortable to wear and doesn’t dry out my lips at all. It really is a brilliant matte lipstick formulation.
It’s currently available on all Lakme counters in India and for the grand total of Rs.295 you can be part of the budget-lipstick crew.
P.S.) I’m without my fancy dancy camera today but if you’re after swatches Indian Makeup and Beauty Blog has them down.
