Deviating from your favorite brown eyeshadow and nude lipstick is an intimidating prospect for a lot of us. Just looking at some of the colorful eye palettes can scare people. If you put down your beloved Urban Decay Naked palette for just a second, you will see that there are ways to add a hint of color to your beauty look that won’t make you look like a Nicki Minaj wannabe and without searching too high or low, with a brand that has been around here since ages: Lakme. And putting on red lipstick isn’t the only option. Want to rock a some colour, but don’t know where to start? I have just the ticket for you…
Lakme 9to5 Primer+Matte Powder Foundation in Silky Golden – at the moment I’m pretty dedicated to Olivia Makeup Stick for my base and if it isn’t that then it’s something as quick to use. Enter Silky Golden – it gives great coverage for daily use and keeps the face shine and oil free for hours. Covers the pores, blemishes, uneven skin tone and gives a bright, soft to touch and matte look. Does its job of Primer+Matte Powder Foundation but needs to be blended in with fingers. It’s just beautiful.
Lakme Eyeconic Kajal in Royal Blue – Add a pop of colour to your eyes with the shade Royal Blue, a beautiful blue color with metallic finish that will flatter all skin colours/eye colours. It is nicely pigmented and shows nice colour pay off with just one stroke however you can increase the intensity of the color by applying another stroke. It lasts for maximum 5 hours on my waterline & 6-7 hours on my lash line. It does fulfill its claims of being smudge and water proof up to a certain extent, but it doesn’t stay for 10 hours as per the description. I’ve been wearing it stroked on the top and bottom lash lines, but the makeup maverick inside of me wants to test this out smeared all over the eyes. I’ll have to get back to you on that one.
Lakme Enrich Matte Lipstick in BM11 – there has long been a void in my lipstick collection for a colour that satisfies a thirst for colour without being too ‘in yo face’. Well now it has been filled. BM11 deposits a light wash of chocolate with a good dose of moisture and all without the need for a mirror. I love these kinds of shades; easy to wear, it’s a no-brainer lipstick that works equally well with a bare lid look or something a little bolder.
Those who are colour-wary are out of excuses. Time to crack out Lakme baby.
