I ditched powder a few months ago now. It made my base look heavy, too matte and it gave me an all round cake-face – yack! My skin is still oily so I do get an oily area here and there by now I just mop it up with some blotting tissues and then dab some Almay Line Smoothing concealer on the area if needed to matte it down slightly. This week I’ve gone back to basics with my makeup, no eyeshadow here today, so let me tell you what I’ve had slapped on my face recently.
My all time favourite base is still the Revlon Photoready BB Cream, however when I’m having a lazy day or fancy a lighter coverage, the L’Oreal Paris True Match BB Cream is my go to product. I don’t think I can rave about this enough, if you usually prefer fuller coverage foundations but want to give a BB cream a go then this a perfect ‘transition’ product for you. For my undereyes I have patted on my usual Almay Line Smoothing Concealer. It gives great coverage under the eyes and feels light on the skin; it’s also got a subtle highlighting effect, nothing too Twilight-esque but dark circle covering. My eyelashes are Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara. This week I’ve kept my cheeks simple, skipping blush as my skin has been a little redder recently and just going for bronzer and highlight. For bronzer it’s always my Revlon Neutral. I’m nearly at the ‘shattering’ stage that this tends to go through once you hit pan and I’m not looking forward to it. Then for cheeks I’ve rediscovered a product that I haven’t used for a few months, the Benefit Watts Up highlighter. This stuff is amazing – heck, you see the glow in the picture? I run this over my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and on my cupids bow & blend it with my fingers. Dewy complexion heaven! Max Factor Designer Blossom on the lips – god isn’t this starting to sound repetitive – and then I’m good to go!
I’ve actually rediscovered quite a few products recently that were hidden in the depths of my drawers, would you guys like to see a ‘Shopping My Stash’ post? Let me know!
