This is the beauty bag that I’ve wanted to put together since the first month of this feature. A bronzed, glowing, beach babe edit to get you beauty beefed up for the impending heat – if it ever decides to play nice. But just in case it does, or if you’re heading off to sunnier shores over the next few weeks – me? jealous? never – then here’s some red hot weather ready products that I’ll be adding into my makeup mix for the month of October…

smudged-out-smokey-products

You know the deal by now. When it comes to eye makeup I’m all over the whole one shade, smudged all over the lid thang. Done. Easy enough for my inept grip to master and simple enough for my no-fuss makeup tastes. There’s plenty of colours in my collection that fit this blended lid bill, but a new one has been welcomed into the eye arsenal and it’s gooood. Maybelline’s The Nudes Palette, a warm neutral palette. And it was love at first smudge. There’s a rusty, copper-flecked wash that blends out with the help of a MAC 224 Brush to a cooler, almost burgundy tone around the edges making it look like you’ve gone to much more hassle than you actually have – win. Plus the formula’s on point too; malleable but not too creamy and best of all it does not budge even on oily peepers like mine.

We’ve all been there, when your base just looks a little to ‘done’. A bit cakey, heavy and when a close-up mirror inspection is conducted visible pigment powders cling to your pores – it’s not a good look. You remember my basket right? It’s been over a year since I showed you round these parts (see here and here for past basket tours), but it’s still around and holding my daily body, hair, feet and other miscellaneous essentials. I thought this weekend I’d take you round what currently sits in my go-to basket of beauty bits…

Sometimes I come across a product that I’m just itching to write a post about. Case in point: the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Vernis. Hot shades, a hell of a wide-brush and the hardiest varnishes I’ve tried. In fact I went six whole days (including a lot of washing up and housework) before things started to look a little raggedy and I required a repaint. The formula’s sorta gel-like, high-shine and some of the shades do need a third coat to reach an opacity level I’m happy with but they last, oh gawd do they last.

It is an all too frequent occurrence that beauty gems get bundled to the back of a drawer. Collecting dust and not seeing the light of day, it’s not until I get down to having a good ol’ clear up that I polish them off and vow to enlist them back into my daily rotation. That’s exactly what happened to the following oft-neglected products; beauts that I’ve welcomed back into the bag with open arms…
