Because all good nail polish looks better with a ring side accompaniment, right? Well I was a little lacking on the ring front; not being too into jewellery, my collection contained a handful of chunky necklaces, one watch and a few odds and sod rings that I’ve purchased as impulse buys when they adorn the checkout – Forever 21 I’m looking at you. But with a feeling to get a little funky with fingertip jewels in my belly I set out on a mission to add to my stash and add to my stash I did with new rocks from Ayesha Accessories, Accessorize and Koovs. So without further ado from left to right on Sally Hansen Triple Shine Nail Polish in Drama Sheen painted pinkies we have:

When it comes to trains, I’m well travelled. My commuting days stand me in good stead and I can recite the timetable home from work, along with never needing to peek at a map. It’s all up here. But one thing I never really mastered on my daily journeys was gauging the right levels of beauty stuff to bring along; too much and I began to resemble a cosmetics camel, too little and I sat there (if I was lucky enough to get a seat) looking a little sad and dull like the chips that hawkers sell. But after some contemplation and a revision last weekend to test my theory I think I’ve got the balance just right, so here’s my en route edit for beauty movers and shakers:

Eyeliner look

I’ve never really been one for eyeliner; too fiddly for my sleepy morning fingers to master, a little stark for my everyday look and trying to match up my non-symmetrical lines usually ends up with me sporting a line about an inch thick against each lash line causing me to crack out a bottle of Bioderma and start over. Phew, it gives me an attack of the shaky hands just thinking of it. But after a makeover last week where I plucked up the courage to request a feline flick and was treated to a graphic eye doodle that took 20 minutes to perfect as I juiced the Makeup Artist for his peeper scribbling tips; I’ve been experimenting with the line making arsenal in my stash and through the age old process of trail and error have mustered up the following conclusions; my eyeliner do’s from one eyeliner noob to another (unless you’ve already mastered it, in which case – share your knowledge!):

Vichy Crabtree and Evelyn The face shop Guerlain May Coop

There is now a whole drawer in my beauty set-up that stashes away a rather large smorgasbord of cute looking minis. Collected from numerous trips to Sephora, added extras from online shopping orders or just tester-scaled try me’s from discovery kits I keep them holed away for times when I’m feeling a little experimental; which judging by the title of this post just so happens to be today. So I’m turning my back on my creature of habit ways and cracking open some new pamper-time testers; here’s the low-down on my sample-sized Sunday beauty menu:

My lip lovin’ roster reads a mixed bag at the moment and I’m being a bit of a floozy when it comes to formulas, refusing to be pinned down to a certain category. Bolds & nudes, here’s what I’m currently kissin’ and crushin’ on in the lip department…

Health & Glow are just bringing it at the moment; housing a load of my favourites, a stellar pharmacy section and with the more recent addition of a smattering of premium haircare brands it’s my go-to place for when I’m in the mood for a hit of everything all rolled into one. But Health & Glow have just lifted the budget bar that little bit higher with Colorbar swooping onto the shelves. When I spotted a stand in the Phoenix Market City branch I spent a whole 20 minutes taking it all in and of course came away a product (or three) in my basket.

The budget VS. high-end debate is always going to be one that always rages on. Now I love what the Indian market has to offer, I’ve got the small fortune amassed on my Lifestyle InnerCircle Card to prove it but my yearning for something a little luxe usually wins and there are many treats I forgo in life to fund that. Boo. However there are a few non wallet-whopping tried and tested products that crop up in my rotation; some newer additions and others that have been hanging around for ages. All under Rs.500 and get a G&M thumbs up. Welcome to a very beefy edit of ‘The Budget Buy’…
