The Beauty Bag: September

With the sun finally deciding to make an appearance, I’m ridding my beauty bag of all nonseasonal choices and dusting off my sunshine accompanied sheeny skin saviours. I’ve got complexion, cheeks, eyes and nails covered with just four glow-giving options being courted into September’s Beauty Bag…

All good ‘lit from within’ looks begin with a solid base. I’ve found the Lotus Herbals Daily Tinted Moisturiser in Fresh Ivory to be stellar. Its dewy finish is a beaut, but you know how I feel about it already – big love for that stuff. Cheeks are up next for the twinkle treatment and as highlighting is the one thing we all gravitate towards when matte isn’t on the menu I’m adding in my favourite. Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator in Peach Light is a stripe-on, blend and you’re done job. Almost with a rose-gold hue to it, I find this works beautifully on the tops of the cheekbones when you wish to ramp up the glow to quite an obvious level.

Of lid space, Maybelline The Nudes Palette is a shimmered-up version of Urban Decay Naked Palette that I plan to be occupying my peepers for the coming weeks. Best applied with a ready to dab fingertip, the multi-faceted pressed eye shadows can be pretty mesmerising to look at and coat the eyes with a layer of natural, low-key goodness. Without boring you with my favourite glow-givers for lips again; Colorbar Kiss Proof Lip Stains, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks, Studiowest Pure Passion Long Lasting Lipsticks – you’ve heard the names of those be discussed around here many times before, I’m skipping onto nails. Now shimmer in my polish is something I find difficult to get behind but one that lacquers up to a healthy glow finish? That I’m OK with. Enter Sally Hansen’s Triple Shine Nail Enamel in Drama Sheen, a light purple that leaves the nail bed just looking a little perky than before. It even comes complete with my Mum’s nod of approval.

Out with the old and in with the sheen. It’s sexy (oh er), season appropriate and simple to add into your routine for September and in the aforementioned go to my rotation. Grab and glow baby…
