The Prep Before the Big Night

Last week I spoke about how to look well put-together after a big night, but what about the prep that needs to happen before the big night in question? It’s ALL about the prep when it comes to wanting to look like a million bucks. Now this routine isn’t something I do every day (ain’t no one got time for that!) but for the one odd occasion where I do need to look *fancy* than my usual hair-in-a-bun & track-pants look. A good one to pull before any big event, no matter the occasion, I’ve got you covered 😎

So it’s the evening before the exciting day & you’ve around an hour to prep, where do you start? I’d start with the most obvious – drink. water. Like loads of it. Drinking enough water should always be on top of your agenda & I’ve noticed that whenever I keep myself well-hydrated, my skin co-operates. Big-sister advice out of the way, it’s time to get on with the good stuff, but wait, there’s one more thing to touch on first. It might not be one of the more glamorous activities, but it’s a good idea to get rid of all the unwanted hair – epilate, shave, wax, whatever.

Skincare-wise I’d recommend keeping things simple. No experimentation today. We don’t want to be bothered with any allergic reactions or rashes at this point. There’s 1 item that I incorporate in my routine for such an occasion. Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Radiance Overnight Oil-in-Serum works as a serum, oil & moisturiser so I tend to massage that on to make my face nice & smooth for the next day. For eyes, I like to put cold spoons on for a few minutes, partly for comedy & partly because they feel amazing.

Another thing to do before bed concerns hair. I suggest applying some texturising spray (I use the Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray) & tying your hair in loose braids so when you wake up in the morning you’ll have some nice beachy waves effortlessly & without heat.

I always prep my nails the night before. If I leave things to the last minute, nails are something I always tend to forget to do & then it’s a shakily applied nail polish job which always gets smudged because of my dress/bag/literally anything. Just throw on whatever colour you want (fingers & toes if your toes are going to be seen) & finish things off with a swipe of Smith & Cult Top Coat to keep things looking nice & shiny longer.

You’re now ready..go on & dazzle them!
