Sometimes the whole two-hour long weekend pamper extravaganza just isn’t feasible. Ain’t nobody got time for that. So in my head I’ve got saved four five minute fix routines that I work through when time is a little thin on the ground. Sometimes I tote them up into a 20 minute speed sesh or I just focus my TLC on one area and then I’m free to cuddle up on the sofa with Harvey, Mike and Baskin and Robbins in no time at all (sorry got Suits on the brain still, season 5 is being devoured at lightning speed)…
The supercharged skin mix. With the sweat-inducing weather now in full swing, I’ve stepped down the oil intake in my skincare routine with my own glands stepping up their production of the stuff. But that doesn’t mean I can cut it out completely; being oily categorised my skin needs a nudge of nourishment every now and again. So in dry times I complete my usual skincare steps in the evening, but as a final hurrah add a drop of oil into my moisturiser mix. A blob of Kama Ayurveda Cypress Orange Pure Essential Oil blended together and applied is my current glow-giving jam when I’m in a squeeze.
The hair help. When it comes to locks – I’ve got a few quick-fix options as my hair likes to very helpfully shift unexpectedly from dry tipped to lank and greasy in a matter of hours – nice, right? For when I’ve neglected masks and treatments *slaps wrist*, I massage in a hefty dollop of Kama Ayurveda’s Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment through the ends and whip into a bun to soak in until its next wash. For frazzled ends when I still need to look presentable (a.k.a without an oiled-up pineapple on my head) I use the tiniest amount of Matrix Biolage Deep Smoothing Serum through the ends. If it’s on the other end of the spectrum and my roots are looking like you could fry an omelette on them, and the rest of my nest is looking a little ‘blah’, a spritz (or five) of Toni&Guy’s Sea Salt Texturising Spray does the trick.
Pretty paws. I dread to think if added up the time spend lacquering on polish a year how high that figure would be. Possibly a full 24 hours? But I can’t cut down a full polish removal/cuticle work/base coat/colour/high shine finish mani into a five minute job. So when things are looking shabby on the tips, I admit defeat and whip out a bottle of nail polish remover, soak my cuticles in warm water for three minutes, push them back and pile on the Body Shop Honeymania Hand Cream. Done.
A body buff. I’m a bath gal till the end, but I’ll begrudgingly partake in a standing soak when time is of the essence. I always find a quick buff and moisturise does the job, so I scrub away with the Body Shop Bath Gloves – the scrubbing pad of the exfoliator world. It’ll leave you feeling smooth but won’t do much more, but as a quick fix and the fact it leaves your limbs looking a little J.Lo-like, I’ll allow it.
With my nails currently looking pretty mangled after multiple attacks of lacquer this week (yep I’m still working my way through every single neutral/pale/pastel colour possible), I’m picking my beds to get a short but sweet seeing to. Five minutes on the clock. Go.
