The Weekend Post #45: Nail Rehab

It’s time to send my nails to rehab. Years of countless paint jobs have left them looking a little rundown. Too easily breakable, thin and (heads up for a TMI comment) a little flakey. I know, quite the mental image I’m conjuring up there. It wasn’t until I was chatting to my mom the other day about beauty bits and how awesome her nails were looking that something clicked. She hasn’t worn polish for months and is now the proud owner of some hardy nail beds. She used to suffer with the flakey ends like mine, but since her lacquer vacay, no more. So it’s time for me to take a varnish holiday too and this weekend I thought I’d breakdown my new mani mantras for you…

No colour. I know, did you just read that? I promise that your eyes aren’t deceiving you. But the key to my mom’s impeccable ‘hards as nails’ nails, she credits down to a polish-free life (coupled with a healthy diet too means she could quite well injure someone with those talons). I’m going to give it a go. I may just have to lock up my polish posse so they don’t wink at me and keep outside of a one mile radius of a Faces counter at all times.

Moisturise them hands. There are two things I always slack on beauty-wise; lip balm and hand cream application. I’m pledging to step-up both regimes but for the purpose of this post let’s focus on the latter. I own some seriously scrumptious hand lotions so it’s time to crack them out. You see this tube of The Body Shop Honeymania Hand Cream? It’s not going to leave my side.

A colour-free claw does sound like quite a sad existence for a lacquer lover like myself so I’m going to just take this one day at a time. Let’s see when the next new paint job makes a debut on Instagram shall we? I believe I can last two weeks. Who wants to put a bet on this one?
