When it comes to nail art, I’m pretty lame. Partly due to the fact that even painting my right hand is a struggle for me and and partly down to the fact that while I love looking at crazy ‘gawd you could have someone’s eye out with those’ jewelled-up, blinged-out talons (check out last week’s post), it’s sort of a look but don’t touch thing. There is one trend though that I can dip my tips in to without too much trouble. The accent nail. It’s genius. You only ever need to puff, pant and paint something fancy on one nail of each hand. Dots, lines, textures – whatever – throw it on the ring finger and be done. Here are my top 3 effects to lacquer up that one special nail with:
‘Rimmel’ and ‘Lipstick’ are two words that go together as well as ‘Ranbir’ and ‘Kapoor’ in my book. The few bolds from them that I own are some of my most slicked-on on a daily basis. But with their latest drop they are turning their attention to nudes and I’m listening. The shade in question is Coffee Shimmer, a brick brown. The Moisture Renew Lipstick is a sheer offering that coats the lips with a light veil of moisture-rich colour. It’s one of those ‘pat on or build-up’ jobs that will please dark lip newbies and old hands alike, though I’d throw it in the category of a ‘chic colour’; a shade that when applied just makes things look ‘polished’, not too try-hard. I like it worn best with a well-worked base and minimal eye makeup in a kind of ‘oh I just rolled out of bed and threw on this lipstick’ fashion.
So matte lipsticks seem to be having a moment in the beauty world right now, if you can’t already tell from my lipstick-packed Instagram. First the Maybelline New York Color Sensational Velvet Matte Lipstick I oded to last week and now this offering from Lakme, let’s just say my lips are going to be well lacquered-up for the next few months. So in the second installment of lipstick porn this week I bring you the Lakme BM11 Lipstick; a permanent range, 25 shades: which are quite honestly drool-worthy. Hubba hubba. Being a bit lacking in the Lakme lipstick department, coupled with the fact that I’m a sucker for anything billed ‘budget-friendly’ So let’s run through the review:
